Golden Radish Award

The Georgia Department of Education School Nutrition Program (GaDOE) is pleased to be taking the lead on the next phase of Georgia’s Golden Radish Award.  This opportunity with the Golden Radish Award has allowed school nutrition to celebrate successes in Farm to School since the award launched in 2014. GaDOE SNP plans to continue this important recognition.

GaDOE SNP with the Georgia Department of Agriculture, University of Georgia Extension, and the Georgia Department of Public Health worked together to revise award criteria.

The criteria and updated award information will be released to Georgia’s School Food Authorities (SFAs) prior to the start of the School Year (SY) 2022-2023 school year.  This will allow SFAs to proceed throughout the entire school year with the award criteria in mind.

We would like to extend an opportunity to recognize your program’s Farm to School related work during the current school year (SY2021-2022) and the previous school year (SY2020-2021).

The modified version of the Golden Radish application reduces the application from 10 criteria to 4 criteria aligning question wording with the USDA’s Farm to School Census.

Completion of the Golden Radish Award application is optional.  All SFAs that complete the applications reporting on their work over the past two years will receive recognition.  Please complete the applications by June 10, 2022 if you would like to be included in this recognition.
